In 2005, the ILO Multilateral Framework on Labour Migration was adopted by the ILO constituents. These non-binding principles and guidelines are a response to widespread demands for practical guidance and action with a view to maximizing the benefits of labour migration for all parties. To build bridges between ILO’s standard-setting role and services and programs for its stakeholders, the ILO implements projects with funding from donors worldwide and partnerships with local stakeholders. One of the projects of the ILO and funded by the European Union is called Decent Work Across Borders (DWAB) project: A Pilot project for Migrant Health Professionals and Skilled Workers. It seeks to better understand schemes in line with circular migration of health professionals. Through this project, the ILO seeks to facilitate an approach to migration that benefits the migrant workers, the source and destination countries within a rights-based framework for labour migration management
Promoting Decent Work Across Borders: A Project for Migrant Health Professionals and Skilled Workers

The overall purpose of the photography competition is to capture images related to migration from the perspective of young health professionals and increase the awareness of Filipinos on decent work, safe and ethical migration particularly of health professionals.

The photo competition will be implemented in partnership with the Alliance of Young Nurse Leaders and Advocates (AYNLA). It is the first professional organization for young Filipino leaders in nursing and healthcare in the country committed to advocating the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals through holistic nursing leadership & advance practice, health advocacy, youth empowerment and nation-building. The Alliance has an established network of Filipino nurses based locally and internationally and maintains a website and Facebook account as a means to keep in touch with their members. The DWAB photo competition will run from October 15 to November 15, 2012 (http://www.dwabphotocontest.aynla.org/). There will be two rounds to the competition. In the first round, up to 20 photographs will be selected for participation in the second round on November 19, 2012. These photographs will be considered as finalists in the competition. These photos will be posted on the ILO Philippines Facebook page starting November 19, 2012. “Likes” will be counted from November 19 to December 1, 2012. The second round will involve the judging the 20 photographs which will take place on December 4, 2012. From the 20 photographs, 3 will be judged as winners.
