Regional Conference on the Contribution of Indigenous Peoples to Local and National Development

The Regional Conference on the Contribution of Indigenous Peoples to Local and National Development will gather multi-sectoral convergence partners and stakeholders in the development and protection of ancestral domains in the Caraga region.

The conference, an indigenous peoples-driven event aims to increase awareness on existing traditional political structures and leaders in the ancestral domains and of the current indigenous peoples’ undertakings that contribute significantly to local and national development. The conference will also serve as launch of the Kayumbyahan Sago Manobo Corporation (KASAMACOR) and the Palm Sago Flour Production Enterprise.

The ILO Indigenous Peoples Development Programme Caraga supports the conference, in partnership with Government of Spain, service providers and indigenous peoples under the principle of convergence. Expected outputs include identifying and recognizing both the traditional political structures and leaders in the various ancestral domains and indigenous peoples’ contribution to local and national development.
