Training on Inspection in the Application of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006

The Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 draws together provisions of 68 maritime labour conventions and recommendations, dating back to the 1920s, setting minimum requirements on health, social security, work and rest hours, accommodation, recreation, food and other employment conditions affecting seafarers.

The training course seeks to deepen the understanding on the inspection regime established by the MLC, 2006 including flag state control, port state control, and labour-supplying responsibilities, in light of the existing law and practice in the Philippines. This seeks to ultimately contribute to the effective implementation of MLC, 2006.
