Sharing and finalizing workshop on Definition and Indicators of Informal Economy for Nepal

The ILO in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) are organizing a half day workshop for finalizing and sharing definition and indicators of Informal Economy for Nepal. The Government ministries, Departments, Employers and Workers representatives as well as other key actors are participating in the workshop. Mr Tite Habiyakare, Regional Labour Statistician from ILO's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok will facilitate the workshop which is organized by the ILO's Way Out of Informality (WoI) Project funded by the Government of Japan.

 

The workshop agreed on the definition and indicators of the informal economy and suggested to translate in Nepali language for final review and organize a round-table meeting for further adaptation.

 Mr Tite Habiyakare, introduced about measuring informal employment internationally.  Mr Bikash Bista, former Director-General of CBS shared draft definition and indicators of informal economy for finalization.

 Over 40 participants participated in the workshop.  Mr Suman Raj Aryal, Director-General of CBS concluded the workshop expressing its importance.
