Procurement and Financial Management Training for District Technical Office Chiefs and Account Officers of 17 Eastern Clusters Districts

The training course aims to provide capacity building to the officials of the Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agricultural Roads, Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (DoLIDAR, MoFALD) and District Technical Offices (DTOs) in project procurement and financial management.

The Cluster level training was organized for the Chief District Engineers and Account Officers of District Technical Offices including Central Project Coordination Unit (CPCU), Programme Monitoring Unit (PMU) officials to review the status and facilitate in clarification of the issues that helps in effective project management as per World Bank and Government of Nepal requirements.

The training brought together 49 PMU's Chiefs, DTO's Chiefs and Account Officers together for sharing and learning common problems and finding solutions.  The opening remarks was delivered by Mr. Ram Chandra Shrestha, Programme Coordinator SNRTP Programme / Deputy Director General DoLIDAR.

The training objectives and activities were presented by SNRTP Team, Mr. Ashok Kumar Jha, Deputy Programme Coordinator and Mr. Shailendra Kumar Jha, NPC ILO.  Subsequently,  Experts presented on Financial Management issues including Audit Report, latest Status of Project Component including issues, Maintenance ( Routine & Periodic), upgrading and bridges, dissemination on revised Environmental and Social Safeguard Framework (ESMF), Procurement and Financial Management, Contract And Quality Management and Occupational Safety and Health promotion in SNRTP.

There was an active discussion on all issues relevant to SNRTP by the participants with a better understanding among the key stakeholders and team building for effective and efficient SNRTP Project Management.
