Projects

The ILO operates a wide range of programmes and projects in Indonesia and Timor-Leste focusing on employment promotion, stopping the exploitation at work and social dialogue. The overall purpose of this technical cooperation is to support implementation of the Decent Work agenda in both countries.

  1. Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) in Asia

    1 January 2013 - 31 December 2030

    The Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) was launched in 2013 as a response to the call at Rio+20 to support countries to embark on greener and more inclusive growth pathway. ILO’s activities within PAGE focus on Green Jobs and ensuring Just Transitions that manage workplace changes as a result of the impacts of climate change.

  1. Better Work Programme in Indonesia - Stage IV

    1 January 2019 - 31 December 2027

    The Project aims to improve working conditions and productivity in targeted employment-intensive sectors by improving compliance with international core labour standards and Indonesian labour law. In tandem, the project will promote productivity and competitiveness of enterprises linked to the Indonesian global supply chain.

  2. Agroforestry Skills for Employment and Resilience in Timor-Leste

    1 September 2023 - 31 August 2027

    The European Union (EU) “Agroforestry-Skills” programme seeks to promote green and sustainable economic diversification and resilience in Timor-Leste through private sector development, technical and vocational education training (TVET) for youth integration in the labour market.

    Promoting the Global Development Initiative with a Focus on South-South Cooperation in Employment in ASEAN

    1 January 2023 - 31 December 2026

    The Project seeks to enhance collaboration between China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) among countries in South-East Asia in the areas of employment, public employment services, and entrepreneurship development.

  2. Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition (IKI-JET)

    1 December 2022 - 31 July 2026

    The project is one of the ILO's efforts to support Indonesia by accelerating just energy transitions (JET) away from coal to renewable energy and other sustainable economic activities by supporting to develop plans for a just transition away from coal to renewable energy and other sustainable economic activities with a focus in the regional level.

  1. Promoting SME Enterprises through Improved Entrepreneurs’ Access to Financial Services (PROMISE II IMPACT)

    3 January 2022 - 31 December 2025

    The Project aims to strengthen the enabling environment to drive a more inclusive financial sector for SMEs, generating post-pandemic economic growth and employment opportunities.

  2. Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Supply Chains Asia (RISSC) in Indonesia

    1 September 2022 - 31 August 2025

    Funded by the Government of Japan, the RISSC project aims to build more resilient, inclusive and sustainable global supply chains as an entry point and catalyst for advancing decent work, addressing human and labour right risks, and building forward better from recent global disruptions, including COVID-19 pandemic. In Indonesia, the RISSC project focuses on the electronics manufacturing sector.

  3. ACTION/Portugal Phase III: Strengthening the Social Protection Systems in Timor-Leste

    14 June 2022 - 31 July 2025

    The ACTION/Portugal is currently on the third phase, aiming to continuously increase the coverage and improve the adequacy of social protection systems in Timor-Leste.

  4. Skills Development and Responsible Business Conduct

    3 April 2023 - 31 May 2025

    Funded by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the project aims at supporting a human-centred recovery from recent disruptions in the global supply chains.

  5. Strengthening Industrial Relations in Indonesia Project

    1 March 2022 - 30 April 2025

    The programme builds the capacity of garment sector workers and their representatives to effectively organize and represent all workers in Indonesia’s garment sector. and participate more actively and inclusively in key national policy advocacy.

  1. The Care Economy in Indonesia

    1 November 2022 - 31 December 2024

    To advance women’s right to decent work including in Indonesia, there is an urgent need to focus on the structural barriers already faced by women in all facets of their life, which place them at a greater risk of further exclusion and poverty.

  2. HIV/AIDS Programme in the World of Work in Indonesia

    8 January 2018 - 31 December 2024

    The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of tripartite organizations and related stakeholders in responding HIV/AIDS programme at the workplace by promoting the Recommendation. concerning HIV and AIDS and the World of Work, 2010 (No. 200).

  3. ILO/Japan Fund for Building Social Safety Nets in Asia and the Pacific (SSN Fund)

    15 June 2011 - 31 December 2024

    The SSN Fund aims to broaden the use of social safety nets through a wide range of projects to extend existing social security systems, promote occupational safety and health (OSH), develop human resources, strengthen labour inspection, eliminate forced labour and foster entrepreneurship. The Fund also responds to natural disasters by implementing crisis response activities in the affected areas to support disaster recovery.

  4. Improving Workers’ Rights in Rural Sectors of Indonesia with a focus on Women

    1 December 2020 - 30 October 2024

    The project, funded by the US Department of Labour (USDOL), aims to promote labour laws compliance, occupational safety and health and gender equality in the Indo-Pacific.

    Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia - Indonesia

    1 August 2020 - 31 July 2024

    The Project aims to promoting regular and safe labour migration among South East Asian countries in fishing and seafood processing sectors.

  6. Advancing Workers’ Rights in Indonesia and Malaysia’s Palm Oil Sector

    7 September 2019 - 30 April 2024

    In Indonesia, the project aims to ensure that Indonesian unions in the palm oil supply chain effectively advocate their members’ on fundamental workers’ rights, while in Malaysia aims to contribute to the elimination of child labour and forced labour in oil palm plantations.

    Promoting and Building Social Protection in Asia (Indonesia - 4th phase)

    The project builds on the achievements made by ‘the ILO/Japan project for promoting and building social protection in Asia (3rd phase): Extending social security coverage in ASEAN (2016 – 2019)’ as well as other development cooperation projects.

  1. Spotlight Initiative in Timor-Leste – A Joint EU-UN Initiative to Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls

    The Spotlight Initiative is a global partnership to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls, which is being funded by the EU and implemented through five UN agencies in Timor- Leste: ILO, UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF.

  2. Safe and Fair: Realizing women migrant workers’ rights and opportunities in the ASEAN region

    1 January 2018 - 31 December 2023

    The project is part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls, a global, multi-year initiative between the European Union and United Nations. Safe and Fair is implemented through a partnership between the ILO and UN Women, in collaboration with UNODC, with the overriding objective of ensuring that labour migration is safe and fair for all women in the ASEAN region.
