    The objective of inclusive and sustainable job-rich growth in Indonesia is outlined in the Indonesian Government's commitment to "pro-jobs" and "pro-poor" growth within its development agenda. To support the realization of job rich growth, it is important that medium term development strategies plan for job creation. Using models to establish employment projections are an important part of planning for employment.

    The role of media is crucial in shaping people’s mindset about disability and to help addressing stereotypes and misconception about disability. Media also serves as the main source of information for services and opportunities and to provide useful insights and understanding of current events and could help ensuring that the disability issues are on the public agenda. Therefore, involving media in the advocacy works is crucial.

  4. Sensitization Workshop on Employment Social Security Programme

    7 - 8 July 2014

    The commitment to social protection is reflected in the Indonesian constitution (1945) that translated to the National Social Security Law (Law No. 40/ 2004) and the Law on Social Security Providers (Law No.24/ 2011) as well as, recurrent at the Tripartite Indonesian Job Pacts (2011-2014) adopting the recommendation for ratification the ILO Convention 102 on Minimum Standard of Social Security and universal coverage for social security.

  5. ASEAN Labour Inspection Conference 2014

    It is the succeeding event to three previous conferences that tackled and provided recommendations on national and ASEAN-level issues which included developing new methods and tools for improving labour inspection effectiveness, strengthening enforcement of national safety and health laws, and concerns surrounding labour migration, child labour, and the agricultural sector.

  7. Meeting of Indonesia Multi Donor Fund Facility for Disaster Recovery (IMDFF-DR) Secretariat

    26 - 27 June 2014

    IMDFF-DR is a facility built by the Indonesia government with the development partners in order to support the disaster management according to the Law Number 24 Year 2007. The facility is geared to prepare the necessary steps for IMDFF-DR to function as gap filler, catalytic support and complement government program in disaster management.

    Timor Lorosae Trade Union Confederation (KSTL/TLTUC) is the trade union center in Timor Leste with some 7,000-8,000 members. To date trade unions have been working to organize workers mainly in the formal sector through democratic representative structures, raising awareness of labour rights, advocacy and collective bargaining.

    Minimum wage has always been a difficult, complex and controversial question in Indonesia and in many developing countries in the world. Achieving a balance between the economic and social objectives of minimum wage setting is a continuing challenge for policy makers, employers and workers. Employers are concerned about ability to pay and unions and activists about maintaining decent standards of living for workers. Policy makers must balance the demands of maintaining a wage floor for workers on the one hand, and the potential employment or inflation effects of wage setting on the other.

  11. Awareness Raising Seminar and Technical Workshop on Social Security Insurance-Employment (BPJS-Ketenagakerjaan)

    In line with the Indonesia’s policy direction adopting universal coverage for social protection by implementing the universal health coverage, the Government of Indonesia lead by the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, now is developing Employment Social Security scheme that would revisit the current schemes of Death, Working Injury and Lump-sum old age benefit in which to be extended by pension programme through releasing number of its implementing regulations commencing 1st July 2015.

  12. The Commemoration of the World Day against Child Labour: Say no to child labour in Timor-Leste

    Timor-Leste as one of the youngest nations of the world has been actively engaged in combating child labour and fostering primary universal education not only in the capital city, Dili, but also in the rural areas. The Government of Timor-Leste is committed to focusing its attention on implementing activities and measures to eradicate practices that violate the rights of children, such as early marriages, child labour, and other types of exploitation, including domestic violence and sexual abuse.

  13. The launch of the butcher shop as part of the business development services in Timor-Leste

    The launch is part of the effort to create a nation-wide access to enhanced and innovative market/need orientated business development services. The programme is conducted in collaboration with the the Institute of Business Support (IADE), the implementation arm of the Secretary of State for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector (SEAPRI).

  14. Training Organizer for Piloting Eco-tourism/Guesthouses Toolkits under the ASEAN Small Business Competitiveness Programme

    All over ASEAN countries, micro small medium enterprises (MSMEs) make up more than 90 per cent of all domestic firms and 75-90 per cent of the non-agricultural workforce. Needless to say, the barriers to entry, survive and maintain a sustainable growth for entrepreneurs are multidimensional; there are issues with funding, legal set-up, implementation approach, access to market research, lack of conducive business environment, et cetera.

  15. Kick-off Workshop on Rural Roads Master Plan for Timor-Leste

    The development of a Rural Roads Master Plan (RRMP) is one of the key outputs of R4D. Once finalized, the RRMP will be the main document for the Government of Timor-Leste to guide investments in the rural roads, in line with the priorities and aspirations of all concerned stakeholders. The value of the RRMP will reach well beyond the operations of the Ministry of Public Works.

  16. Meeting of Focal Specialists on International Labour Migration Statistics in ASEAN

    The ILO’s ASEAN TRIANGLE Project recently developed the International Labour Migration Statistics (ILMS) Database to gather statistical information on migrant workers in the ten ASEAN member states, including a range of previously unpublished sources.

  18. Launch of the Second Phase of SCORE Programme

    Based on the successful implementation of the first phase of the Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) programme, the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, together with trade unions and employers’ organizations, will launch the second phase of SCORE programme in Jakarta. Supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the launch also marks the national adoption of the SCORE’s programme.

  19. SCORE National Tripartite Steering Committee Meeting

    The purpose of this meeting is to conduct the Eight SCORE steering committee meeting, which will guide the implementation of SCORE Phase II in Indonesia. All strategic and policy management decisions will be consulted and agreed upon. The meeting also marks the national launch of the second phase of SCORE.
