Official launch of the R4D movie

H. E. The Minister of Public Works, Sr. Gastão Francisco de Sousa, hosted a high-level event to officially launch a movie about the Roads for Development Program (R4D). Senior dignitaries from the Government of Timor-Leste, Donors and Development Partners have been invited to this launch which took place at the Terra Santa resort in Dili.

H. E. The Minister of Public Works, Sr. Gastão Francisco de Sousa, hosted a high-level event to officially launch a movie about the Roads for Development Program (R4D). Senior dignitaries from the Government of Timor-Leste, Donors and Development Partners have been invited to this launch which took place at the Terra Santa resort in Dili. The Guest of Honor of the event was H.E. Vice-Prime Minister, Sr. Fernando La Sama De Araujo and as Special Guest H.E. Ambassador of Australia, Mr. Peter Doyle attended the event.
The official launch of the R4D movie, along with an exhibition that show-cases R4D’s works, aimed at sharing information about the work of R4D in the rural road sector with a wide range of stakeholders. The exhibition and the movie emphasized the importance of well-planned and effectively-delivered investments in the rural roads sector for the socio-economic development of the country.

During his opening speech, H.E. the Minister of Public Works expressed his sincere appreciation to the Australian Government for its financial support to R4D and to the International Labour Organization (ILO) for the technical assistance that it is providing to the Ministry of Public Works in the implementation of the Program.

H.E. the Ambassador of Australia reconfirmed Australia’s support for R4D saying “With strong and on-going commitment from the Government of Timor-Leste, Australia stands ready to support this commitment under the R4D program as a long-term development partner”.

R4D is a Program of the Government of Timor-Leste, implemented by the Ministry of Public Works. R4D started in March 2012 - initially for a period of 4 years - to lead all rural road rehabilitation and maintenance activities in Timor-Leste, in terms of planning and delivering quality rural road works. R4D receives financial support from the Government of Australia and technical assistance from the ILO.
