In Abidjan, on 2 December 2013, singers of different genres, including rap and reggae, together with renowned actors and novelists, launched two new music videos dedicated to the struggle against child labour. The artists formed a “Choeur pour l’abolition du travail des enfants”, a choir for the abolition of child labour, to use their talents and fame to raise awareness about the problem in their country and to mobilise action to end it.

The “Choeur pour l’abolition du travail des enfants” produced two videos: "Mon enfant" and "Petits travailleurs":

The initiative was coordinated by the NGO Petit Kouakou, in partnership with the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour. The artists signed a Charter denouncing child labour in Côte d’Ivoire and calling for action to end it.

The artists signed up to the ILO’s Music against Child Labour Initiative Manifesto, which was launched in June 2013, by renowned conductors including Claudio Abbado, José-Antionio Abreu, Daniel Barenboim, and the International Federation of Musicians, Jeunesses Musicales International, Musicians for Human Rights and the Fundación Musical Simon Bolivar, El Sistema. The Music Initiative calls on artists of all genres to dedicate one concert between October 2013 and December 2014 to the fight against child labour.
