    L'Union africaine, l'OIT et l'UNICEF ont organisé un événement continental virtuel pour marquer la Journée mondiale contre le travail des enfants. L'événement a réuni des acteurs clés pour discuter des stratégies de lutte contre le travail des enfants, en adoptant une approche holistique et systémique basée sur l'estimation globale du travail des enfants pour 2020 et les recommandations connexes, qui ont été lancées par l'OIT et l'UNICEF le 10 juin

    AU, ILO and UNICEF mark the World Day against Child Labour in Africa

    The African Union, ILO and UNICEF organized a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event brought together key actors, to discuss strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.

    Sergio was arrested and jailed in Madagascar when he was 16 for stealing vanilla. Thanks to vocational training he’s learned to be a bricklayer and no longer engages in petty crime. Read his story on our new Voices multimedia platform.

    Most ILO programmes implemented in African countries, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, are now taking accelerated action on protecting the health, jobs and incomes of workers. These interventions include a focus on more comprehensive social protection, while at the same time ensuring continued education for children. The ILO is also expediting action to strengthen the capacity of government, including labour inspection and law enforcement, as well as organizations of workers and employers.

A project of the International Labour Organization aims to reduce the number of children in domestic work through awareness-raising and skills training.

    La pobreza y la falta de oportunidades obligan a muchos niños de Madagascar a trabajar como empleados domésticos en condiciones susceptibles de poner en riesgo su salud y seguridad. La Organización Internacional del Trabajo ha puesto en marcha un proyecto destinado a reducir la cantidad de niños que trabajan como empleados domésticos, fomentando la sensibilización y la capacitación profesional.
