  1. Looking Back, Moving Forward, and Taking Action Towards a Child Labour-Free Philippines

    In the celebration of World Day Against Child Labour during its Centenary, the ILO looks back at the past century’s achievements of tackling child labour, its milestones addressing the issue in the Philippines, and propels action to end all forms of child labour in the country.

  2. TOGETHER for a brighter future without child labour

    13 June 2019

    Celebrating the World Day Against Child Labour 2019, we look back at a century of struggle and forward to future challenges and opportunities. The thematic forum will focus on the major transformations being experienced in the world of work, whether the result of technology, environmental or demographic change, and what this means for the youngest in society. Given the proven policy areas for combatting child labour, the discussion will also focus on accelerating action towards SDG Target 8.7, entailing “the ratification and implementation of fundamental ILO labour standards and compliance in law and practice.” The forum will be followed by the second segment on “Empowering actors for social change” which will focus on the role of partnerships in building the momentum for campaigns and action against child labour. Within the context of the WDACL and the ILO’s SCREAM (Supporting Children’s Rights through Education, the Arts and the Media) programme, it will highlight the key role of children and youth in such efforts.

  4. World Day Against Child Labour 2019 - Children shouldn’t work in fields, but on dreams

    On this World Day Against Child Labour will look back on progress achieved over a 100 years of ILO support to countries on tackling child labour. We will also look forward towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal Target 8.7 set by the international community calling for an end to child labour in all its forms by 2025.

  5. Inter-Regional Knowledge-Sharing Forum on Child Labour and Working Conditions in ASGM

    The International Labour Organization's CARING Gold Mining Project, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, will host the first-ever Inter-Regional Knowledge-Sharing Forum to discuss issues on child labour and working conditions in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) on 28-30 May 2019.

  7. ASGM Technical Working Group Consultation and Planning Workshop

    The artisanal small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector will have a consultation meeting to assess the present state of ASGM operations in the country, toward recommending legislative changes to address its issues and concerns, and formulating a medium-term National Action Plan to ensure a sustainable response.

  8. ILO-CARING Gold Mining Project Communication Strategies Workshop

    11 February 2019

    Key partners of the ILO-CARING Gold Mining Project will meet to discuss and look into potential information and communication strategies to contribute to the improvement of the knowledge, attitude and practices of the Project's target ASGM populations and stakeholders. Inputs from this consultation meeting and workshop will be used substantially in developing the Project's Strategic Communication and Advocacy Plan.

  3. 5th National Artisanal Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) Summit

    27 - 28 September 2018

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) in partnership with Ban Toxics will hold a national ASGM summit that will bring together local stakeholders on ASGM in the Philippines. The event will include a study launch, presentations and discussions on ASGM and the gold supply chain and will highlight the voices of child labourers and miners.

  6. Event to mark the World Day Against Child Labour 2018 and the 20th Anniversary of the Global March Against Child Labour

    In Geneva, on 4 June 2018, at 1:00 p.m., at the Palais des Nations, an event will mark the World Day Against Child Labour and the 20th Anniversary of the Global March Against Child Labour. This panel discussion takes place during the 107th Session of the International Labour Conference, and is organized by the ILO in collaboration with the Global March Against Child Labour.

  7. Generation Safe and Healthy Children’s Summit

    29 - 30 May 2018

    The ILO Caring Gold Project, funded by the United States Department of Labor, will bring the World Day against Child Labour in Camarines Norte to address child labour and to promote decent work, including occupational safety and health in small-scale gold mines. Over 250 children, parents and partners will join the campaign and children’s summit.

  8. Philippine Fashion Week: Compassionate Gold Brand Launch

    Innovative solutions are crucial to address child labour and to promote decent work in small-scale gold mines. The ILO Caring Gold Project, funded by the United States Department of Labor, and implemented with BAN Toxics, will launch the Compassionate Gold brand in partnership with the Philippine Fashion Week. Compassionate Gold ensures responsible mining practices.
