This year’s International Labour Conference held a World of Work Summit to discuss how to shape the future of work for youth. The World of Work Summit provides a unique opportunity to participate in a stimulating, open and interactive panel discussion. This year’s panel is framed within the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to inform ILO tripartite constituents about the UN Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth and the ILO’s role with a view to scaling up action and impact.
10:15 - Panel discussion on Decent Jobs for Youth
The plenary sitting opened by the President of the Conference, followed by introductory remarks from the ILO Director-General and a video message from the United Nations’ Secretary General Mr Ban Ki-moon.
Panel moderated by Ms Nozipho Mbanjwa from CNBC Africa and is composed of 3 young persons and 3 constituents:

Linda Kromjong, Secretary-General of the International Organization of Employers (IOE)
Sharan Burrow, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC)
Ms Rita Kimani, Young entrepreneur from Kenya
Ms Nice Coronacion, Young trade union activist from the Philippines
Mr Max Trejo, from the Organización Interamericana de Juventud
Panel discussion complemented by live interviews with a young refugee, Ms Fartun Abass Osman (Somalia) as well as a young person who has experienced internal displacement, Ms Saila Zailuaga (Colombia).
