  1. National Tripartite Preparatory Meetings for 7th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML)

    16 September - 20 October 2014

    National Tripartite Preparatory Meetings for 7th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML) from September to November 2014 was held in several ASEAN member states to take stock on progress to date and implementation of previous forums’ recommendations at the national level, to discuss the 7th AFML’s proposed theme, and to prepare recommendations for the 7th AFML.   2. 6th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting

    6 September 2014

    More than 100 delegates from 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific will attend the 6th Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting in Hanoi

  3. National policy dialogue on "ASEAN Community 2015: Managing integration for better jobs and shared prosperity”

    A new ILO/ADB report is presented at the event.

  1. The Regional Skills Programme: Taking stock and mapping the way forward

    24 - 25 July 2014

    The current event is organized as follow-up to the 2012 meeting. It will provide an opportunity to take stock on the progress towards established goals, as well as re-affirm priorities and/or establish new priorities. It will also provide an opportunity to examine what works and what does not work with regard to knowledge sharing.

  2. Training on Fostering the Social and Professional Reintegration of Return Migrants

    14 - 18 July 2014

    An ILO training course providing advanced knowledge with which to foster the contribution to development of return migrants, and offering ground-breaking information about their patterns of social and professional reintegration.

  3. ASEAN Labour Inspection Conference 2014

    3 - 4 July 2014

    It is the succeeding event to three previous conferences that tackled and provided recommendations on national and ASEAN-level issues which included developing new methods and tools for improving labour inspection effectiveness, strengthening enforcement of national safety and health laws, and concerns surrounding labour migration, child labour, and the agricultural sector.

  4. Civil Society Forum on ILO Domestic Workers' Convention, 2011 (No.189)

    1 - 2 July 2014

    The increasing participation of national workers in the formal sectors of the economy generates the necessity to hire foreign workers to perform domestic chores.

  1. Meeting of Focal Specialists on International Labour Migration Statistics in ASEAN

    27 May 2014

    The ILO’s ASEAN TRIANGLE Project recently developed the International Labour Migration Statistics (ILMS) Database to gather statistical information on migrant workers in the ten ASEAN member states, including a range of previously unpublished sources.

  2. Task Force on ASEAN Migrant Workers and ILO-ASEAN TRIANGLE Project Regional Civil Society Consultation: Post 6th AFML Activities

    27 - 28 May 2014

    The primary objective of this consultation is to identify activities that national CSO stakeholders will undertake to implement the Recommendations of the 6th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML) and to assess the extent to which CSO have contributed to the implementation of the AFML recommendations (3rd, 4th, 5th)

  3. Regional Training course on international migration for trade union

    26 May - 1 June 2014

    The objective of this collaboration with the ILO International Training Center in Turin is to develop and implement a 5 days training course for Indian trade union leaders on international labour migration and its challenges and opportunities as well as to highlight international trade union solidarity around the issue of migration.

  4. Regional Knowledge Sharing Mission on Nursing Education and Practice (Philippines, India and Viet Nam)

    13 - 16 May 2014

    The objective of this knowledge sharing mission is to enhance the respective expertise of the education authorities of the three participation countries on their respective strategies toward quality nursing education through the sharing of experiences, policies and programmes.

  1. Regional Meeting on Increasing Productivity through Enhancing the Safety and Health of Migrant Workers

    29 - 30 April 2014

    The mobility of professionals in the ASEAN region is expected to increase significantly with the realization of the ASEAN Economic Community’s (AEC) Blueprint for the free flow of skilled labour by 2015. Increased efforts will be needed to ensure that robust regulatory frameworks are in place across the region when the AEC is scheduled to commence in 2015

  2. 28 April - World Day for Safety and Health at Work

    28 April 2014

    “Safety and health in the use of chemicals at work“ is the theme for the 2014 World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Marking the day, an ILO report shows that while chemicals can be useful, necessary steps should be taken to prevent and control potential risks for workers, workplaces, communities and the environment.

  3. “Youth with Cultural Heritage and Tourism Development” Day

    24 April 2014 - 31 May 2016

    This event aims to create an opportunity for local youth in Thua Thien Hue Province to better understand the values of their culture heritages, and give them sufficient knowledge on how to preserve these treasures, in line with accelerating local tourism business in a sustainable manner and introducing decent career choices and professional skills associated with this sector.

  4. ILO-IOM Regional conference on making breakthrough in the implementation of Ethical and Professional Recruitment

    1 - 2 April 2014

    The ILO, IOM and the EU convene Asian recruitment agencies in Manila to discuss ways to improve migration governance systems, ethical recruitment and the professionalization of the industry under the auspices of the 2nd Regional Conference of the Alliance of Asian Associations of Overseas Employment Service Providers (AAA-OESP).

    The ILO and the MTV EXIT will provide support for the HoChiMinh Central Youth Union to organize a series of programmes in Viet Nam

  3. Initiatives for tourism development and rural youth employment in Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam province

    10 December 2013

    This workshop is for the ILO and its partners to explore the possibilities for fruitful co-operations in the upcoming projects and raise the initiatives for tourism development and rural youth program in the two piloted provinces.

  4. Final workshop to close the ILO Project “The “Strengthening of Inland Tourism project in Quang Nam Province

    10 December 2013

    The workshop will be organised to evaluate the outcomes and transfer the achievements to the partners for their continuation and replication.

  1. 6th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour

    26 - 27 November 2013

    The 6th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour is scheduled to take place on 26 and 27 November 2013 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. The ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML) is an open platform for review, discussion and exchange of best practices and ideas between governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, and civil society stakeholders on key issues facing migrant workers in South-East Asia, and develop recommendations to advance the implementation of the principles of the ASEAN Declaration on Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers.
