The ILO Country Office for Viet Nam organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

October 2017

  1. National Preparatory Meeting for the 10th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour

    9 October 2017

    The workshop to review progress of implementation the recommendations of previous AFML and recommendations for the 10th AFML will be held on 9 October in Hanoi.

  2. Policy discussion: Main characteristics of the informal employment in Viet Nam

    5 October 2017

    The Policy Discussion introduces policy-level diagnosis of the informality situation in Viet Nam and its review findings of the sector.

  3. Workshop and book launch on "Informal employment in Viet Nam"

    4 October 2017

    This is an event held to present the book "Informal employment in Viet Nam" - a publication by General Statistics Office of Viet Nam and discuss about the informality situation in Viet Nam. The publication is the first-of-its-kind official statistics on informal employment.

  4. Training for media - Informal employment measurements

    2 October 2017

    Informal employment in Viet Nam requires broad public awareness where journalists play a significantly contributing role. The training aims at providing the journalists with measurements to informal employment so that the journalists can initiate public debates on the topic in an appropriate and effective manner.

September 2017

  1. Regional conference on ethnic minorities: harmonizing culture, environmental and economic development for mountainous and ethnic minorities areas

    18 - 19 September 2017

    The event is a high-level conference, attracting participants from ministerial agencies from 5 countries: Viet Nam, Laos PDR, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. Main discussions include good practices on promoting employment for ethnic minorities from participating countries towards improved productivity and incomes.

  2. Validation Workshop - Study on Knowledge, Attitude and Behaviour (KAB) on Occupational Safety and Health in Viet Nam

    13 September 2017

    The workshop, taking place on 13 September in Ha Noi, presents findings from the baseline KAB study, focusing on young workers’ knowledge, attitudes and behavior to illustrate the current situation among young workers, employers and labour inspectors in Viet Nam

  3. Development of the Amendment and Supplement to the Decree on Administrative sanctions for social protection and relief, and protection and care of children

    1 September 2017 - 30 June 2018

    From July 2017 to June 2018, ENHANCE project will work with MOLISA Legal Department to develop the amendment and supplement to the Decree on Administrative sanctions for social protection and relief, and protection and care of children.

  4. Finalization of Knowledge about Business (KAB) materials

    1 September - 31 December 2017

    With the support of ILO ENHANCE project, MOET is accelerating the materials development process to strengthen education on business at the primary and secondary levels. This activity has met MOET urgent need in addressing the increasing demand on learning knowledge and skills of business start-up.

  5. SafeYouth@Work Congress - XXI World Congress on Safety and Health at Work

    The SafeYouth@Work Congress takes place in parallel with the XXI World Congress on Safety and Health at Work on 1-6 September.

  1. Knowledge sharing and training workshop on ensuring the protection of workers 15-17 years old

    29 August - 1 September 2017

    The workshop will seek to raise participants knowledge on how to address hazardous child labour among adolescents having reached the minimum age for employment, with an emphasis on how to ensure their right to protection from abuse and exposure to hazards in the workplace.

  2. Dialogue on promoting labour legislation compliance in the supply chain of the electronics sector

    1 August 2017

    The dialogue forum is part of the VCCI/ILO initiative to promote socially responsible labour practices in the multinational enterprises, business associations and their suppliers in Viet Nam. It also aims at facilitating policy dialogue between the private sector and MOLISA Inspectorate on issues and challenges encountered by the electronics enterprises in Viet Nam today.

  1. Industrial Relations Summer School 2017

    24 - 29 July 2017

    The ILO Country Office for Viet Nam, together with a number of senior labour researchers, initiated a plan for an Annual IR Summer School with two specific goals. First, it would provide training and academic resources for researchers. Second, it would provide the basis for regularizing a networking forum for researchers, high-potential teachers at public and non-public institutions, and freelance researchers on labour and employment issues, both within Viet Nam and with international scholars.

  2. Validation workshop on training and communication materials for occupational safety and health (OSH) in craft villages in Hung Yen

    19 July 2017

    The aim of the workshop is to finalise a complete set of communication and training materials towards improved occupational safety and health in selected craft villages in Hung Yen. The workshop takes place in July 2017 in Ha Noi, with the participation of tripartite partners.

  3. Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Refreshment Training Workshop

    17 - 20 July 2017

    The workshop aim to refresh the SIYB training materials on entrepreneurship skills including updating the exercises and examples of business ideas, and friendly to local entrepreneurs that can be more relevant to local contexts.

  4. Capacity building activities for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) improvements in craft villages in Hung Yen Province

    14 - 31 July 2017

    The capacity city building activities are to generate a deeper understanding of specific workplace hazards and risks present in the craft villages, particularly as they affect young workers.

  1. Validation Workshop on Draft Decree on sanctions to labour related violations

    16 June 2017

    The aim of the workshop is to validate the draft Decree on penalties for administrative violations against regulations on labour, social insurance and overseas manpower supply, a Decree which interpret the regulations of the new OSH law into suitable applicable sanctions.

  2. Workshop on effective investigation and prosecution of trafficking in persons for labour exploitation

    6 - 8 June 2017

    This regional ASEAN workshop discussed labour dimensions of trafficking in persons.

  3. Action Campaign for the World Day Against Child Labour in Viet Nam 2017

    1 - 30 June 2017

    The communication campaign is to commemorate the World Day against Child Labour 2017 in Viet Nam and will include a series of activities, targeted at different audience groups

  1. Decent Work Country Programme consultation workshop

    22 May 2017

    The workshop will be organized on 22 May 2017 in Hanoi to validate the Zero draft for the new Viet Nam Decent Work Country Programme of 2017-2021.

  2. Forum on Ethnic Minority Development 2017 “Cooperation, connectivity to support ethnic minority start-ups”

    16 May 2017

    To support CEMA to have right orientation in supporting the start-up-business for the vulnerable groups in mountainous areas, together with World Bank, Care international, iSEE and other development partners.
