Regional Training on Actuarial Analysis for Social Health Insurance Benefits

Viet Nam Social Security, ILO Viet Nam and the International Training Center are co-organizing a Regional Training on Actuarial Analysis for Social Health Insurance Benefits on 4-8 November 2019 in Hanoi. The training is expected to address the needs to improve the national technical expertise in actuarial analysis for health insurance benefits and to promote exchanges across stakeholders the countries in South East Asia.

The training is expected to address the needs to improve the national technical expertise in actuarial analysis as well as the use of actuarial analysis in policy making and administration of health insurance schemes.

The training is designed with the following objectives:

  • To sensitize the country stakeholders on the importance to conduct actuarial valuations to assess and monitor the financial situation of health insurance policies;
  • To provide a sound understanding of basic concepts, principles and key elements of actuarial valuations;
  • To guide health insurance data management in order to perform actuarial valuations and make recommendations for improving the quality of data;
  • To facilitate the understanding of actuarial reviews of national authorities and interpret actuarial projections into evidence-based policy development and administration.
  • To foster exchanges of experiences and practices among the four countries.
Government officials from Ministries in charge of Health, Ministries in charge of Labour and Social security and from Social security institutions in Viet Nam, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Thailand will benefit from the training, delivered over the course of five days by international senior health expert actuaries.
