The workshop is inscribed in the context of the MoU launching between ILO/ ILSSA on "strengthening capacities for undertaking research works for evidence-based policy making for the period 2017-2021" that was signed by both parties recently. As part of the implementation of this MoU, a joint study on "labour and social trends in Vietnam 2012-2017" has been jointly conducted by ILO/ ILSSA. The report aims at providing an overview of the recent employment and labour market trends in Vietnam, that can be used as an advocacy tool for advancing decent work in Vietnam. This validation workshop today is to present the initial findings of the report and gather participants' views in order to enrich the scope and the outreach of the report. It is envisaged that the report be finalised and disseminated by the first quarter of 2018. Looking forward at promoting employment and decent work in Vietnam, the workshop aims also at building national capacities on employment projections methodologies that can be carried forward and best used in the future.
