The 2017 Viet Nam Industrial Relations Forum

The 2017 Viet Nam Industrial Relations Forum, jointly organized by the Government, VCCI, VGCL and ILO, offers an opportunity for tripartite partners and stakeholders to assess the situation and challenges, to reflect on progresses made in the past year, and to jointly identify ways forwards.

With the resumption of the labour code revision and preparatory work for ratification of ILO Core Conventions, the government and social partners need to make renovation of various components of its industrial relations systems, which include legal framework, effective design and implementation of national policy on industrial relations including improving its dispute settlement services, effective system of labour inspection, and active promotion of collective bargaining and social dialogue at various levels. It is based on tripartite recognition of vital roles of effective industrial relations in ensuring social justice and inclusive growth in the context of Vietnam’s global integration.

It is in this context tripartite partners and ILO organize the 2017 National Industrial Relations Forum, with following objectives:
  • Objective 1: Tripartite partners reaffirm their commitment to promoting new industrial relations framework with respect to ILO FPRW in the context of Viet Nam’s global integration (morning high level session).
  • Objective 2: Tripartite partners at central and decentralized levels discuss and share plans, progresses and initiatives for organizational and institutional renovations towards moving towards new industrial relations, including plan for labour code revision, design and implementation of national industrial relations policy, promotion of social dialogue and collective bargaining with respect to ILO FPRW Declaration (morning high level session).
  • Objective 3: Tripartite partners at central and decentralized levels discuss and develop plans of actions to work with various ILO projects, including NIRF, Better Work, SCORE, MNED and Safework, with a view to developing coordinated way of collaboration for synergy and sustainable impacts of the collaboration (afternoon session).
