Workshop BackgroundThis workshop is to publicize the rating (evaluation) of 66 recruitment agencies’ compliance with the VAMAS’s Code of Conduct. This is an important part of informing potential migrant workers, service providers and employers on the reliability of the recruitment agencies and promotes ethical recruitment practices. In this regard, please find enclosed the tentative agenda and the concept note for your further reference.
The VAMAS Code of Conduct (COC-VN) was adopted in 2010 and the monitoring and evaluation mechanism was developed in 2012. The benefits of this practice have also been recognized by Government, recruitment agencies and workers themselves. According to the Vice Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Nguyen Thanh Hoa, in the Evaluation Workshop 2014 said the COC-VN helped companies to improve their reputation in the eye of workers and foreign partners, while better protecting the rights of migrant workers. For VAMAS Chairman Nguyen Luong Trao, the COC-VN is “a tool for fair assessment that promotes a healthy competition among enterprises”. For many migrant workers, it is important to know which agencies offer good services, to reduce the risks and the costs of migration. This model has been shared with several other countries in the region and provinces in nation.
