It contributes new understanding and insights to better support enterprises in creating powerful and comprehensive change in eliminating all forms of discrimination within the workplace and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. It builds on the wealth of existing research showing the critical role of D&I in the high performance of the workforce, businesses, economies and societies globally.

Productive transformation and sectoral policies during the COVID-19 crisis in El Salvador and Costa Rica

Employment policies that promote productive transformation are key to promoting job-rich growth. In this context, the current report reviews the past experience of two small open economies, Costa Rica and El Salvador, in introducing policies aimed at structural transformation, as well as how employment aspects have been included, and their lessons for employment-rich recovery strategies in a post-COVID-19 setting.

The key to resilience will be to understand the main internal characteristics of successful SMEs and also to look at the external success factors associated with the global business environment in order to design and implement public policy aimed at promoting the creation of business development services or public policies in favour of SME development. With this research, the ILO Bureau for Employers' Activities aims to contribute to this reflection.
