    Employment Injury Insurance in the Republic of Moldova: Options for contribution rates

    Employment injury compensation is closely related with occupational safety and health. In order to reduce work accidents and occupational diseases, it is indispensable to create positive synergies between compensation and prevention. One of the crucial questions is how to find a balance between individual liability and collective solidarity with a view to improve the financial protection of all parties and provide incentives for prevention. This report explains key characteristics of the differential rating system and experience rating system, and analyzes the issues associated with their implementation in the Moldovan context.

    Restructuring the Employment Injury Insurance System in Serbia: Further analysis of reform options

    This publication summarizes the current provisions of employment injury benefits in Serbia and provides an overview of the social security benefits against accidents and sicknesses for work-related and general cases. It also presents the analysis with respect to the measures to improve the reporting of work accidents and occupational diseases in Serbia as well as presents the actuarial evaluation of the costs of employment injury benefits and the methods for determining contribution rates.

    This advocacy report attempts to identify the elements which should be taken into account in determining the cost of occupational accidents and diseases at the national level, with a focus on developing countries. The aim is to help countries identify the economic costs of not improving workplace safety and health – to employers, to workers and to society as a whole – and to inform decision-makers of the net costs of policies presented to them.

    Achieving the Revitalising Health and Safety targets: Statistical progress report

    The Revitalising Health and Safety strategy statement, launched in June 2000, set three national targets for improving health and safety performance by 2010. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) set out its technical approach to measuring progress against the Revitalising targets in a Statistical Note published in June 2001. Among other things, this said that a report on progress would be prepared each autumn, comparing the latest data with those for the base year (1999 or financial year 1999/2000). This document is the ninth such annual report.
