    Preventing and mitigating COVID-19 at work

    The ILO and WHO publish a brief providing a literature review on common features of workplaces most affected by the new corona virus and the most effective measures adopted by countries to prevent and mitigate COVID-19 at work. The brief gives practical guidance for national and local authorities as well as employers and workers’ representatives for the implementation of WHO and ILO recommendations to prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and manage COVID-19 outbreaks at work in non-healthcare settings.

    This third annual report on progress and perspectives of the ILO in Latin America and the Caribbean, prepared by the ILO Regional Office, is a continuation of the ones published in June 2012 and June 2013. Taken together, the three documents show steady, if uneven, progress in labour market policies, programmes and institutions, and that the ILO has been adjusting their strategies to focus on the key challenges faced by the region.

    This timely volume provides a unique and comprehensive overview of the evolution of labour administration in China and details the recent reforms of its legislation and institutions. It gives a clear explanation of the principles and practical working of labour administrations in workplace-specific issue such as occupational safety and health, labour relations, and working conditions, as well as in the public employment services, labour inspection and social security services.

It was coordinated by the ILO’s Labour Administration and Inspection Programme (LAB/ADMIN) in cooperation with the European Commission’s Labour Law Unit.

    The Report, describing progress made in the world of work in the region over the last year and, at the same time, once again presenting strategic guidelines for discussion. The document also describes a chequered period: sustained progress has been made in labour policies and indicators, which is good news for the region. The international context presents serious threats however, and internal inequality persists, so it would be unwise to lower the guard.

    Good Practices in Labour Inspection on HIV and AIDS

    This publication is a set of good practices on labour inspection with respect to HIV and AIDS which was prepared jointly by the LAB/ADMIN and the ILO Programme on HIV/AIDS and the World of Work (ILO/AIDS). It is a tool for labour inspectors, workers and employers to improve their understanding about the linkages between labour inspection and HIV and AIDS.
