Implementation Guide for SCORE Training

This step-by-step implementation guide is designed for staff from the ILO and other organizations such as business associations, government agencies and training providers that want to offer SCORE Training to enterprises. This manual is intended to help set up and run the training programme from inception through to successful offering of the service. It can also be used as background information for other actors who may participate in the running and organization of the programme, such as expert trainers or new programme staff.

Employment practices and working conditions in Thailand’s fishing sector

The Report, describing progress made in the world of work in the region over the last year and, at the same time, once again presenting strategic guidelines for discussion. The document also describes a chequered period: sustained progress has been made in labour policies and indicators, which is good news for the region. The international context presents serious threats however, and internal inequality persists, so it would be unwise to lower the guard.

Green jobs in construction: Small changes – big effect

Construction was the first specific sector of the economy to be addressed in the ILO’s Green Jobs Initiative. The sector is responsible for 25-40 per cent of global energy use, and 30–40 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Andrew Bibby, a London-based journalist, reports from the suburb of Khayelitsha, Cape Town’s largest informal settlement, where the Kuyasa Initiative has targeted 2,000 homes for basic energy-saving measures, creating jobs at the same time.
