Training workshop for occupational safety and health and labour inspectors in Ukraine

The workshop enabled to build capacities in occupational safety and health (OSH) inspection and to foster collaboration between the Ukrainian labour and OSH inspection services.

The two-day training workshop for OSH inspection services attracted a total of 26 participants, including labour inspectors from the Ministry of Labour, OSH Inspectors from the State Service of Mining Supervision and Industrial Safety of Ukraine and trainers from the OSH training centre.

The lectures tackled new prevention strategies for labour inspection, ILO and EU OSH standards, OSH management systems, managing and inspecting OSH in enterprises, planning and performing an inspection visit and reporting. Training and materials used were based on labour inspection training presently being developed by ILO/ITC Turin and the ILO’s LAB/ADMIN unit.

It was the first workshop in Ukraine organized jointly for labour and OSH inspectors. The State OSH Service and State Inspection on Labour Issues expressed their gratitude to the EU/ILO Project for the possibility to foster joint work and cooperation between the two administrations in the field of OSH.

Participants indicated that they would be keen on receiving further training to analyze in depth EU legislation and regulation on OSH, best practices and international comparison of OSH situations in various countries.
