  1. Worldwide events to promote the world day campaign 2021

    This year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work, commemorated on 28 April 2021 by a Global Virtual Launch event, focused on leveraging the elements of an OSH system as set out in the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No. 187). The World Day received global press and social media coverage from around the world. Furthermore, ILO constituents around the world organized over 40 regional and national social media campaigns, lectures, webinars, virtual dialogues and other various themed events.

  2. Preventing and mitigating COVID-19 at work

    19 May 2021

    The ILO and WHO publish a brief providing a literature review on common features of workplaces most affected by the new corona virus and the most effective measures adopted by countries to prevent and mitigate COVID-19 at work. The brief gives practical guidance for national and local authorities as well as employers and workers’ representatives for the implementation of WHO and ILO recommendations to prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and manage COVID-19 outbreaks at work in non-healthcare settings.

  4. The Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC) discussions with the EU

    01 December 2019

    At the invitation of the Finnish Presidency, the Chair and Secretariat of the IOMC met with members of the European Council Working Party (international chemicals) on 14 November 2019 to brief EU member states on the functioning and activities of the IOMC and share thoughts and exchange views regarding IOMC's possible role and enhancement in the Beyond 2020 framework.

    A global framework for international chemicals and waste management, known as Beyond 2020, was discussed in Bangkok from 30 September - 4 October 2019.

  6. ILO hosts international stakeholder workshop on governance for the sound management of chemicals and waste

    On 28 February and 1 March 2019, the ILO hosted a stakeholder workshop on strengthening governance for the sound management of chemicals and waste beyond 2020, organized by UNITAR and co-sponsored by the Governments of Germany and Switzerland.
