  1. Free movement of persons and transhumance in the IGAD Region: Improving opportunities for regular labour mobility

    The overall objective of the project is to improve opportunities for regulated labour mobility and decent work within the IGAD countries through the development of models of intervention, in the broader context of the regional integration.

  1. Addressing the Root causes of Migration in Ethiopia

    1 August 2016 - 31 December 2020

    The project aims at supporting the efforts of the Government of Ethiopia to address and reduce irregular migration in Ethiopia by creating decent livelihood and employment opportunities for potential migrants especially women and youth.

  2. Improved Labour Migration Governance to Protect Migrant Workers and Combat Irregular Migration in Ethiopia

    1 January 2017 - 31 December 2020

    The project aims at supporting the efforts of the Government and Civil Societies to address and reduce irregular migration by improving labour migration governance and making regular labour migration more accessible and desirable to potential migrants in Ethiopia.

  1. Towards Comprehensive Global Guidance on Developing and implementing Bilateral Labour Migration Agreements: Unpacking Key Obstacles to Implementation in the African Region

    2 July - 31 December 2018

    The joint ILO-IOM project, funded by the Government of Sweden, build on the complementary strengths and experiences of the two organizations to develop regionally relevant analysis, guidance, and capacity building tools on bilateral labour migration agreements in Africa.

  2. Support to the Reintegration of Returnees in Ethiopia

    1 January 2015 - 31 December 2018

    The project aims at improving labour migration governance in Ethiopia and assisting returned migrants to secure productive employment and decent work.

  1. Joint UN Resource Mobilization for the Counter Trafficking and Migration Policy and Practice in Ethiopia

    1 June 2016 - 30 June 2017

    The project aims to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) to address human trafficking, smuggling and irregular migration, youth unemployment and uphold the rights of migrants.

  1. Improving the governance of labour migration and the protection of migrant workers’ rights in Tunisia, Morocco, Libya and Egypt

    1 March 2013 - 30 November 2016

    In the North Africa region, unemployment, underemployment, informality of employment and decent work deficits triggered the social unrest leading to the 2011 revolutions and contributed to the ongoing political transformation processes.

  2. Development of a Tripartite Framework for the Support and Protection of Ethiopian women Domestic Migrant Workers to the GCC States, Lebanon and Sudan

    1 January 2013 - 31 January 2016

    This project aims at better protecting decent work standards at work and the human rights of women migrant domestic workers from Ethiopia and the Somali region throughout the process of migration – from their place of origin to their destination. The project places special emphasis on young women.

  1. Program "Improving the institutional capacity for governance of labor migration in North Africa and West"

    1 January 2008 - 31 December 2011

    The ILO Regional Office for Africa in close collaboration with the ILO's International Migration in Geneva implements a program to improve the institutional capacity for governance of labor migration in Africa North and West. The program works to achieve and maximize the benefits of international migration of labor to the development of countries of origin and destination through actions focused on the promotion of good governance and effective management migration of labor and support.
