The Labour Market Integration of New Immigrants in Europe: Analysis and Policy Evaluation

This research project undertaken between October 2012 and December 2014 by the Migration Policy Institute (MPI) and ILO-MIGRANT, thanks to funding from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, aimed at providing an integrated picture of the role of policies in facilitating newly-arrived immigrants’ access to the labour market and to middle-skilled jobs.

Republica of Moldova, Building capacity for coordination of social security for migrant workers

The project aimed at improving the social security benefits for Moldovan migrant workers by enhancing the capacity of the Moldovan government in negotiating, adopting, and implementing bilateral social security agreements with major destination countries of Moldovan migrant workers. The project contributes to improve the impact of migration on development and on poverty reduction by ensuring the right of social security for the Moldovan migrant workers and their families.

Effective action for labour migration policy and practices funded by DFID

The project, "Effective Action for Labour Migration Policies and Practice" has three immediate objectives: increasing the capacity of constituents for effective governance and regulation of labour migration as an instrument of development, promotion of the ILO Multilateral Framework on Labour Migration, and promoting ILO's role as a knowledge base on international labour migration through expanding databases on migration statistics and good practice profiles.

Sustainable Partnerships for Governance of Labour Migration in the Russian Federation, Caucasus and Central Asia

The proposed project aims to promote a sustainable, participative and equitable approach to the governance of labour migration in the Russian Federation, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. It will promote national and regional dialogue on more effective forms of migration governance, integrating initiatives of governments, trade unions, employers' associations, civil society, the ILO and other organisations in the region.
