    ILO Chief Technical Advisor, Shaza Al Jondi, speaks from Lebanon about the Partnership for improving prospects for forcibly displaced persons and host communities (PROSPECTS), which aims to help forcibly displaced persons and their host communities tackle the challenges caused by displacement. Together with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Bank, the project will run until 2023.

The project is funded by the European Commission and implemented by the ILO in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

    According to the latest estimates of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the number of migrant workers has increased by 5 million since 2017. The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the critical role migrants play as essential workers, but it has also exposed their vulnerability to the devastating health, economic and social impacts of the pandemic.

  2. ILO employment-intensive interventions promote decent work in Iraq

    In Dohuk, Iraq, the ILO and local authorities have launched employment-intensive interventions in water irrigation and waste management. The schemes support decent employment for Syrian refugees, internally displaced persons and host community members. The majority of participants are women.
