ILO Workplace Adaptation Programme aims to help ensure and enhance labour peace and contribute to an efficient and peaceful working environment in unity and solidarity through trainings on promoting the adaptation of Syrian and Turkish workers working at the same workplace and eliminating prejudice. More than 150 Syrian and Turkish workers at 16 firms located in Adana, Mersin and Gaziantep have benefited from ILO's Workplace Adaptation Programme.

Boshra is only one of thousands of Syrians who participated in the vocational trainings and Turkish language courses carried out by the ILO in cooperation with the local partners. In cooperation with Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen and Vocational Training Centres, ILO supports the access of Syrians to apprenticeship programmes by informing enterprises and Syrians about the apprenticeship system and by establishing linkages between vocational training centres and the private sector.

Every year nearly 400,000 domestic workers leave Indonesia to work abroad. For most the experience is positive, allowing them to earn many times what they would earn at home. Hidden from public view in private homes however, domestic workers can be targets of exploitation and abuse as ILO TV reports.
