Prospects for responding to forced displacement in Lebanon

ILO Chief Technical Advisor, Shaza Al Jondi, speaks from Lebanon about the Partnership for improving prospects for forcibly displaced persons and host communities (PROSPECTS), which aims to help forcibly displaced persons and their host communities tackle the challenges caused by displacement. Together with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Bank, the project will run until 2023.

Syrian garment worker in Jordan continues to support her family during pandemic

A year ago, Batoul, Syrian refugee in Jordan found work at a garment factory through an ILO-supported employment centre. The factory was forced to close temporarily during the pandemic. Even so, Batoul continued to receive a salary which she uses to provide for her young daughter, who has a spinal condition.

Building skills and formalizing employment for Syrian refugees in Jordan

The ILO is implementing a new project in Jordan aimed at helping Syrian construction workers obtain permits, occupational certificates and social security enrolment. The UK-funded project is part of wider efforts to help formalize the work of Syrian refugees in specific sectors in Jordan.
