  6. World Refugee Day: The power of inclusion

    World Refugee Day, 20 June, is the international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations and events seriously disturbing public order. This goal continues to grow in importance as the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) estimates that almost 82.5 million were forcibly displaced at the end of 2020.

  7. Improving access to water and healthcare in East Darfur and West Kordofan: Contractors training kicks off in Sudan

    On 21 March 2021, the ILO kicked off a three-week training course for local contractors from the East Darfur and West Kordofan States. The theoretical component of the training, held in Khartoum with a hybrid format of online and in-person lectures, aims to equip local contractors with labour-based and cost-effective construction techniques. These techniques have a significant capacity to absorb community workers in need of livelihood opportunities.

  8. A knowledge exchange with ILO Ankara: Learning from each other and sharing experiences to support the creation of decent work opportunities for refugees and host communities
