  1. Strengthening leadership capacities of stakeholders from Nepal and Paraguay to influence policies on migrant domestic workers

    The Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW) supported participation of the stakeholders from Nepal and Paraguay in the training organized by UN Women on Gender, Migration, Development: A Matter of Rights, aiming at replication of the training at national level and promotion of a gender sensitive approach of advocacy on migrant domestic workers’ rights.

  2. Law on Domestic Work in Paraguay Approved

    17 March 2015

    The Paraguayan Parliament approved a law on Domestic Work, equating domestic workers’ rights with all wage-workers. The law is based on the ILO Convention 189, which was earlier ratified by Paraguay in May 2013 and required harmonization with the national legislation.

  3. Women Migrant Rights discussed at the 59th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

    Representatives of Member States, UN entities and ECOSOC-accredited NGOs from different regions of the world attended the 59th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. Migrant domestic workers’ rights were discussed at several side events, among them “Organizing for Women Migrant Rights” and “The Feminization of Migration and Globalization of Reproduction: Commodifying care and procreation across borders”.

    New law leads to new life for migrant domestic workers

    After decades of labor organizing and with the support of the ILO, Argentina has passed a new migration policy to make life better for domestic workers.

  5. Bi-national Agreement Promoting Decent Work for Migrant Domestic Workers in Paraguay-Argentina Migration Corridor

    Domestic workers’ organizations and trade union confederations from Paraguay and Argentina signed a bi-national agreement in order to promote decent work for Paraguayan migrant domestic workers in Argentina. This was the main output of a bi-national workshop organized under the auspices of the EU funded Global Action Programme for Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW).

  6. Argentina and Paraguay signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support ILO Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers

    Tripartite Commissions on Equal Opportunities of Argentina and Paraguay signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop different collaborative initiatives, among them - their role as advisory committee of the EU funded Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW).
