Orientation Workshop for Dhaka Ahsania Mission Project Staff and Management

ILO executed Labour Migration project supported Dhaka Ahsania Mission conduct an Orientation Workshop to familiarize project staff and management with the implementation approach and methodology for implementing a pilot initiative to give top-up technical training and impart life skills and pre-departure information to equip the Bangladeshi workers who have made a decision to migrate for work in another country and to support left behind families of the migrant workers.

The ILO Labour Migration Project office was jointly inaugurated on 11 March 2013 by the Honorable Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MEWOE) and the Director-General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in the Ministry premises in the Probashi Kalyan Bhaban.

Consultation with BMET for Comprehensive System's Review by the Labour Migration Project

A Comprehensive Systems Review (CSR) of the Bangladesh Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) and the Wage Earners’ Welfare Fund (WEWF) is planned by the Ministry of Expatiates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MEWOE) under the Labour Migration Project, namely, “Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh”, executed by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The review is to identify the strengths, good practices and possible areas for improvement. To begin the process in a participatory manner, the ILO's Project Management Team held a consultation with the senior officials of the BMET in Dhaka.

The 2nd Project Steering committee (PSC) Meeting of the project titled “Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh” Executed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Held on Thursday 14 Feb 2013 at the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment in Dhaka. The PSC members used the opportunity to review the project progress and gave approval for the planned implementation actions.
