    The ILO launches the Fair recruitment Initiative (Phase II, 2021-2025) for Africa

    The ILO Regional Office for Africa in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the International Organization of Employers (IOE) are partnering to launch the Fair Recruitment Initiative in Africa in March 2022. This launch is an opportunity to expand the implementation of successful fair recruitment approaches to other countries in Africa.

    This webinar will present the Guide on Extending Social Protection to Migrant Workers, Refugees, and their Families and provide an overview of the policy and administrative options that can be considered to extend social protection to migrant workers, refugees and their families. A selected number of country and regional practices will be presented that may inspire countries when engaging in legal reforms, negotiating social security agreements and designing social protection schemes.

    Policy dialogue on fair foreign employment process and good practices of migrant workers in Baluchistan

    The ILO’s Project “Governance of Labour Migration in South and South East Asia” (GOALS) funded by Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) in collaboration with Ministry of Overseas Pakistani and Human Resources Development (MOP&HRD) and Department of Labour Baluchistan and with its constituents, will organize a policy dialogue in Quetta to identify the pathways to promote fair recruitment for foreign migrant workers and minimize the role of subagents/intermediaries in foreign employment recruitment in Pakistan. The participants will deliberate on the key challenges, encountered by Pakistani migrant workers during foreign employment process and discuss other related policy recommendations.

    Refresher- Training of trainers for Pakistan Workers Federation to promote safe, orderly and regular labour migration

    29 - 30 November 2021

    A two-day refresher training of trainers for trade union leaders from across Pakistan (from high migration districts) will jointly be organized by ILO and Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF). The training will be facilitated by senior officials representing the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment; the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), Migrant Resource Centre, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and ILO. This activity is supported by ILO- Global Action to Improve the Recruitment Framework of Labour Migration (REFRAME) project funded by European Union.
