    Policy Round Table and Research Discussion on Migrant Domestic Workers in Ukraine-Poland Corridor

    A policy round table was organized at the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine to present research findings on migrant domestic workers in Ukraine-Poland migration corridor, conducted under the auspices of the Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW).

    Workshop of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine on the Role of Trade Unions in the Protection of Migrant Domestic Workers

    The Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine (CFTUU or KVPU) organized a two-day workshop for its members of in order to agree on practical steps to reach out to domestic and migrant domestic workers, and effectively protect their labour rights. The workshop was organized in the framework of Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW) under thematic umbrella “Role of Trade Unions in the Protection of Migrant Domestic Workers in Ukraine”.

    Workshop of the All-Ukrainian Union of Workers Solidarity VOST “VOLYA” on the Role of Trade Unions in the Protection of Migrant Domestic Workers

    Leaders of the All-Ukrainian Union of Workers Solidarity VOST “VOLYA” organized a sensitization workshop on migrant domestic workers’ rights with an aim to build union’s capacity in order to reach out to domestic and migrant domestic workers, effectively protect their labour rights and raise awareness on the ILO Convention 189 on Domestic Work. The workshop was organized in the framework of Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW) under thematic umbrella “Role of Trade Unions in the Protection of Migrant Domestic Workers in Ukraine”.

    Launch of a Campaign for Ratification of the ILO Convention 189 on Domestic Work in Ukraine

    1 December 2014

    Three main Trade Union Confederations of Ukraine reached an agreement to promote the ratification of the ILO Convention 189 on Domestic Work. A strong political commitment to promote decent work for domestic and migrant domestic workers was a consequence of trade unions’ mobilization in a framework of the activities conducted by the Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW).

    Workshop of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine on the Role of Trade Unions in the Protection of Migrant Domestic Workers

    Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine (TUESWU) organized a workshop on the Role of Trade Unions in the Protection of Migrant Domestic Workers the with an aim to discuss the challenges migrant domestic workers face and legal grounds of their protection, including the ILO Convention 189 on Domestic Work.

    Training of Trainers on Decent Work for Migrant Domestic Workers for Trade Unions of Ukraine

    3 - 4 November 2014

    Trade Unions of Ukraine participated in a two-day ToT on decent working and living conditions for migrant domestic workers, developed by the Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW) with an aim to raise awareness on decent work deficits of migrant domestic workers and promote a better understanding of the contents of the ILO Convention 189 and its accompanying Recommendation 201.
