The establishment of Migrant Resource Centers has benefited many migrant workers. The use of these Centers are now found in many sending and receiving countries, and they take various forms --- sometimes supported by governments, CSOs, employers , trade unions or even migrants themselves. Such Centers can play an important role in ensuring migrants’ access to information, legal services and skills training, and can also serve as a means to promote greater social inclusion and interaction.

At present, through the support of the GMS Triangle project, once an MRC has been established with the National Employment Agency Job Center in Cambodia, one through civil society partnership and one through a trade union partnership, , two have been set up in the Ministry’s job centers and one with a trade union in Lao PDR and five are operating in the employment service centers in Vietnam.

This study tour will allow selected government representatives from ASEAN member countries to see the actual operation and management of Centers in Cambodia and in Singapore (where the Center is managed by a trade union). The visit will allow participants to also share good practices in the delivery of support through the use of migrant resource centers.
