Heike Lautenschlager Profile

Heike Lautenschlager has been a Technical Officer with the Labour Migration Branch since October 2016. She is the focal point for work in East Africa and the Horn of Africa, the Fair Recruitment Initiative and the branch’s work on climate change and migration. She provides policy guidance and technical support to ILO’s constituents in these areas.

Heike first joined the ILO in 2012, working as the Technical Officer for the ASEAN TRIANGLE Project in the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. The project worked to strengthen the regional labour migration governance framework in the ASEAN to better protect migrant workers.
 
Before her assignments with ILO, Heike spent several years working with non-government organizations in Australia, Cambodia and Peru on the issues of trafficking in persons and support to refugee populations.

Heike graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Masters in Social Development (Refugees and Forced Migration) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Business Economics, Finance and Spanish).
