Seminar on the role of ministries of labour in a modern society

A seminar on the role of ministries of labour in modern society was held in Cairo at the invitation of the Egyptian Minister of Manpower and Migration, Mr. Mohammed El- Borai. Specialists from the ILO's Labour Administration and Inspection Programme (José Luis Daza and Ludek Rychly) presented recommendations concerning the adaptation of labour administration in Egypt to new social and economic conditions.

Labour administration and inspection key to good global governance

The importance of strong and effective labour administration and labour inspection systems in the context of economic and social development is recognised in the Constitution of the ILO, the Declaration of Philadelphia and the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization. The same principles have been further developed by numerous ILO Conventions, Recommendations and other instruments. ILO Online spoke with Giuseppe Casale, Director of the ILO’s Labour Administration and Inspection Programme (LAB/ADMIN).

Regional consultation meeting: Good practises in labour administration and inspection in the Americas
27 April 2011
In June 2010, the ILO's Governing Body put an item for general discussion on the agenda of the upcoming 100th Session of the International Labour Conference dealing with labour administration and labour inspection. It invited the Office to prepare an initial document to orient governments and the social partners on the development and structure of the eventual ILC Report. It decided that the Conference Report should provide general information on good practices in labour administration and labour inspection to enrich the June 2011 general discussion.
