    Awareness rather than penalties

    „Go to light!” information campaign and labour inspection visits led to the formalization of 200,000+ undeclared workers in Ukraine

    In 2020, the EU-funded ILO project „Towards safe, healthy and declared work in Ukraine” supported the State Labour Inspectorate on the implementation of a nation-wide awareness-raising and communication campaign to inform workers and employers about the advantages of declaring work and the risks of not doing so. Instead of imposing fines, labour inspectors visited employers to give technical advice on how to correct or formalize employment relationships.

    Information campaign of Ukrainian labour inspectors brings 123,000 workers into formal employment in one month

    Labour inspectors from the State Labour Service of Ukraine visited more than 184,000 employers in the trade, hotel and restaurant sector between 21 and 30 January, 2020, to inform them about the risks of undeclared work. The news about these visits spread very quickly and triggered the registration of 123,000 workers representing a 26% increase compared to the previous year
