    This publication aims to support governments, employers’, and workers’ organizations as well as other stakeholder in addressing HIV and AIDS among young people and combatting discrimination and stigmatization of young workers affected by the HIV epidemic. It includes guidelines and concrete examples that can be used by actors working on HIV and AIDS as well as youth employment initiatives.

    Social Protection and HIV: Global Literature Review

    The Global Literature Review of social protection and HIV is the first component of the ILO's research on "Access" and "Effects" of social protection policies and programmes on women and men workers and their households in the formal and informal economy affected by HIV and AIDS. This review identifies and outlines the international literature on access to and the impact of social protection programmes on people living with or affected by HIV (PLHIV) and their households. The literature review was undertaken by the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), UK for the ILO Programme on HIV/AIDS and the World of Work (ILO/AIDS).

    VCT@WORK: Together, making it happen in Africa

    More than 8 million people living with HIV are accessing the antiretroviral treatment enabling them to live longer, healthier and more productive lives. However, an estimated 7 million people currently eligible for treatment are not accessing it. An estimated 40% of people living with HIV globally, do not know their status, thus preventing them from accessing treatment (source: UNAIDS).
