Building Capacity for Migrant Workers’ Access to Just Compensation, Post-Return

The Integrated Programe on Fair Recruitment (FAIR project) will conduct a training workshop “Building Capacity for Migrant Workers’ Access to Just Compensation, Post-Return” to help develop the capacities of the caseworkers of Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa (SENTRO) to identify, develop and, with the help of partners abroad, seek damages on behalf of migrant workers who have been exploited, trafficked or injured in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Hong Kong SAR).

Training on Fair Recruitment of Philippines and Hong Kong Associations of Recruitment Agencies

The Integrated Programe on Fair Recruitment (FAIR project) is committed to exploring new ideas that could help reduce deceptive and abusive recruitment practices. The FAIR project has undertaken the training of Philippines and Hong Kong Kong private recruitment agency associations on fair recruitment.

Training on Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons in Malaysia

Labour inspectors of the MOHR and other stakeholders participated in the training course on the labour dimensions of trafficking in persons in Malaysia with an aim to better understand and identify indicators of forced labour in labour exploitation situations.

Consultation Meeting on Qualitative Assessment of Returnees Migrant Domestic Workers in Indonesia

The Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and Their Families (GAP-MDW) organized a consultation meeting to provide a space for national constituents to share inputs and perspectives on proposal research on returned migrant domestic workers in Indonesia. The study aims to document through a qualitative survey the working conditions and forced labour risks faced by Indonesian domestic workers in Malaysia and their reintegration challenges.

Regional Conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons in the ASEAN region

Criminal justice and labour officers, inspectors and labour attachés from the ASEAN member states, social partners and other stakeholders participated in a regional conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons organized with an aim to enhance participants’ understanding of the labour migration management, labour exploitation and criminal justice elements of labour trafficking.

Judicial Colloquium on Human Trafficking and Forced Labour for Magistrates
7 - 9 August 2011
The programme will include sessions on international labour standards and conventions relating to human trafficking and forced labour, domestic law and amendments on the subject, prosecutions, victims and psychological impact etc. This programme is being developed in consultation with the Ministry of Justice and the Judges Training Institute.
