A meeting organized by Alliance 8.7's pathfinder countries to demonstrate that "zero tolerance" of the worst forms of human exploitation is a shared responsibility.

Sub-regional consultation workshop on achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 8.7

14 - 15 September 2016

This sub-regional consultation was designed to follow a schedule of large plenary sessions with expert panels, small multi-stakeholder breakout groups, and live lunch talks. Recognizing that within the SDG 8.7 thematic areas of work there are distinct methodological approaches, policy and programming considerations, each session had a specific focus and allocated time for technical deliberation relating to implementation and policy.

Expert workshop "Measuring Modern Slavery" - Fourth Meeting

15 - 16 June 2016

This meeting is planned as a follow up of the first three meetings in April, September and December 2015 in the framework of the work on the SDGs indicators. Its objective is to review the work done during the first three meetings and informing new participants on the global objectives of this working group, to share the results of the discriminant analysis made on the FL survey from Myanmar and to work on the operational definition and measurement framework of bonded labour.

This meeting is planned as a follow up of the first two meetings in April and September 2015 in the framework of the work on the SDGs indicators. Its objective is to work on the operational definition and measurement framework of forced labour of children and to continue the work on sampling design and short prevalence surveys for national level

This meeting is a follow up of the first meeting in April 2015, and its objective is to sharing survey instruments already used and the measurement framework used to measure forced labour.

Work in Freedom Programme Update

The Work in Freedom Update and UK Stakeholder Meeting is an annual event intended to brief UK stakeholders engaged in the fight against modern slavery on progress with the Work in Freedom Programme. It is also an opportunity for others to share latest developments or emerging evidence in the field. Work in Freedom is a five year, UK-funded initiative to combat trafficking of women in South Asia and the Middle East. The programme is delivered by the International Labour Organisation, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and other global and local partners.

Expert workshop "Measuring Modern Slavery"

27 - 28 April 2015

The key objectives of these two days of consultation are to take stock of the current state of knowledge of tools and methodologies; to analyse the current limitations and challenges faced; to discuss the need for a unique operational definition of forced labour and for criteria for identifying modern slavery situations; and to identify partnerships and opportunities for further collaboration.
Course "Identifying and investigating cases of forced labour and trafficking"

20 - 24 April 2015

The main objective of the course is to train participants to better identify and investigate cases of forced labour, including trafficking for labour exploitation. The course addresses the different stages of the process (inspecting workplaces, interviewing victims, gathering evidence), with a focus on the private sector (textile, agriculture, domestic work, etc.).
