1. Work in Freedom Programme Update

   The Work in Freedom Update and UK Stakeholder Meeting is an annual event intended to brief UK stakeholders engaged in the fight against modern slavery on progress with the Work in Freedom Programme. It is also an opportunity for others to share latest developments or emerging evidence in the field. Work in Freedom is a five year, UK-funded initiative to combat trafficking of women in South Asia and the Middle East. The programme is delivered by the International Labour Organisation, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and other global and local partners.

1. Workshop "The employment of Chinese migrant workers in UK: issues and solutions"

   22 - 23 October 2009

   Event organized by the University of Nottingham and the ILO, as part of a European Union-China collaborative project "Capacity Building for Migration Management in China (CBMM)" funded by the EU.

2. "What Not to Wear: Cotton and Child Slavery"

   8 October 2009

   This discussion is organized by Anti-Slavery International together with the Environmental Justice Foundation and is hosted by Amnesty International UK. This event has been re-scheduled from June 9 when it was cancelled due to the tube strike

August 2008

1. Preventing Human Trafficking for Forced Labour and the Worst Forms of Child Labour

   19 August 2008

   The Trades Union Congress (UK), Anti-Slavery International and ILO organized a joint workshop to feature a showcase of proven practices to prevent trafficking for labour exploitation by the ILO’s Mekong Sub-regional Project to Combat Trafficking in Children and Women and to discuss challenges in response to labour trafficking in the UK.
