Brazil: III Seminar of the National Pact to Eradicate Slave labour
1 September 2010
Launched in 2005, the National Pact for the Eradication of Slave labour is celebrating its 5 years of existence. The international seminar will gather the signatories of the Pact to assess the enforcement of the Pact, present the results of the monitoring process, and discuss the situation of supply chains facing the issue, and will also present good practices of employers against contemporary slavery.

Identifying Good Practices for Producers/Purchasers to Reduce the Use of Child or Forced Labor

The workshop is part of a National Research Council (NRC) study sponsored by the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) of the Department of Labor. Participants will discuss the elements of a possible framework for identifying and organizing a standard set of practices that will reduce the likelihood that persons will use forced labor or child labor to produce goods, with a focus on business and governmental practices.

Second national seminar of the monitoring Committee of the national Pact to eradicate slave labour

The seminar will gather employers and companies signatories of the National Pact. The results of a new study on Supply Chain will be presented and some good practices will be presented. The Code of conduct of the National Pact will be given to participants.

Technical consultation on forced labour indicators, data collection and national estimates

The objective of the meeting is to discuss how to improve indicators and data on forced labour, including the forced labour outcomes of human trafficking, with a view to promoting better law enforcement and monitoring the impact of national and international policies.
