  1. Women migrant workers’ labour market situation in West Africa

    This report provides an overview of the situation of women migrant workers in West Africa based on a review of laws, regulations, policies and exisiting data, with a special focus on Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Nigeria. It includes data on women migrant workers' working conditions and wages, sectors of employment, representation in the informal economy and other labour and social protection issues. The report was carried out with financial support from the "Support to Free Movement of Persons and Migration in West Africa" project (FMM) funded by the EU and ECOWAS.

  2. ILO launches new tool for labour migration researchers and policy makers

    The ILO has developed a global database of over 90 national laws, policies and regulations that have defined recruitment fees and related costs. By visiting the map database, you can find out whether a specific country policy regulates or prohibits the charging of recruitment fees and/or related costs to the worker; and whether it is applicable to national and/or migrant workers. The map provides the relevant extract of the policies and links to the policies.

  3. Attracting skilled international migrants to China: A review and comparison of policies and practices

    The report reviews the existing policies and practices of China concerning the attraction of foreign professionals and other skilled international migrants with a comparative analysis of talent attraction policies and their outcomes in Germany, Japan, and Singapore. Based on a comparative study, recommendations are put forward for China to improve its foreign talent policies and practices in order to be more successful in the international competition for talents.
