Work in Fishing Convention, 2007 (No.188): Netting Gains for Sri Lanka

This study was commissioned to identify how the ratification of C 188 convention by the Government of Sri Lanka would impact on different stakeholders. Working in the agriculture and fisheries sector, the ILO's LEED+ project has a strong focus on creating inclusive, decent work opportunities. It is expected that the C 188 Convention, if ratified by the Government of Sri Lanka, will not only promote decent work conditions in the fisheries sector and create additional employment, but also generate significant economic returns to the country.

This publication ‘Assessment of the Key Bottlenecks for Private Sector Investments in the Northern Province’ is the result of the assessment carried out under the Local Empowerment through Economic Development and Reconciliation" - LEED+ project of the globally flagged Jobs for Peace and Resilience (JPR) programme. The study was commissioned by the ILO in order to identify key barriers for private sector investments to the Northern Province, with the plan of advocating for addressing these barriers for bringing in more investments to the area and generate decent jobs in both formal and informal sectors.

Prevention of HIV/AIDS in the World of Work: A Tripartite Response. A documentation of Good Practices.

India’s National AIDS Control Programme aims to develop a multisectoral response to HIV/AIDS. Mainstreaming HIV/AIDS in key ministries is seen as a key strategy. The Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE), an institution of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, reaches out to 300,000 workers annually through its workers’ education programmes. CBWE, with support from the International Labour Organization (ILO), has mainstreamed HIV in its programmes that reach workers in the formal as well as informal economy in India. This case study provides insights into the process, experiences and lessons of the way CBWE has mainstreamed HIV/AIDS in its programmes.
