    Decent Work for Domestic Workers

    There has been increasing recognition, nationally and internationally, of the economic and social contribution made by domestic workers and of the need to improve their living and working conditions. This course is a response to this global call for action. It aims to promote inter-regional dialogue among the different actors involved in the promotion of decent work for domestic workers, and to enhance institutional capacities to ensure that they are adequately protected.

    Generation Safe and Healthy Children’s Summit

    The ILO Caring Gold Project, funded by the United States Department of Labor, will bring the World Day against Child Labour in Camarines Norte to address child labour and to promote decent work, including occupational safety and health in small-scale gold mines. Over 250 children, parents and partners will join the campaign and children’s summit.

    Innovative solutions are crucial to address child labour and to promote decent work in small-scale gold mines. The ILO Caring Gold Project, funded by the United States Department of Labor, and implemented with BAN Toxics, will launch the Compassionate Gold brand in partnership with the Philippine Fashion Week. Compassionate Gold ensures responsible mining practices.

    This event will showcase in a concise, high-impact manner how the ILO is preparing with the Caribbean for the future of work through the presentation of the two aforementioned documents. This aims to reinforce ILO’s voice and visibility as the world’s expert agency for the world of work, and indeed the future of work, in this case focusing on training.

    On 27-28 November 2017, the Employment Policy Department will bring together researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and other stakeholders to review and discuss on-going research on demand for jobs and bottlenecks in developed and developing countries.

    A report on the findings will contribute towards the ILO global Initiative, including a constituent meeting to be convened by the ILO in 2018.
