    Overcoming barriers and stereotypes: Social inclusion in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

    In partnership with the East African Institute of Welding (EAIW) and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), a dual learning industrial welding training programme with low barriers to entry and deliberately targeting female youth and persons with disabilities has been developed and is currently being implemented in Turkana and Garissa Counties, Kenya.

    One important skill that determines the success of an instructor is public speaking. Training of the ILO and the Ministry of Manpower has included public speaking as part of the training on content creation and delivery of online training for the instructors of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centers.

    Changes brought about by the expanding digital economy could help persons with disabilities gain more equal access to the world of work, or they could create greater barriers. A new ILO report proposes actions to ensure that the post-COVID world of work is disability-inclusive.
