  1. Disability inclusion makes business sense - also in Latin America

    More than 30 business and disability representatives from 12 Latin American countries exchanged their ideas on how to promote regional cooperation among different initiatives during a recent workshop organized by the ILO Global Business and Disability Network (GBDN). GBDN members Adecco, Carrefour, L'Oréal, Repsol, Legrand and Handicap International also participated in the meeting.

    Developed jointly by the UN Global Compact and the ILO, the "Guide for business on the rights of persons with disabilities - How business can respect and support the rights of persons with disabilities and benefit from inclusion" suggests concrete actions and measures companies can take to implement good practices that are inclusive of persons with disabilities in the workplace, marketplace and in the community - in alignment with relevant UN conventions and frameworks.

  6. "Unusual" employment of persons with disabilities: from words to work

    The ILO, together with the Permanent Missions to the UN of Australia, Costa Rica, Finland and Spain, the International Disability Alliance, as well as the UN Global Compact, organized a side event on the employment of persons with disabilities during the 9th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

  7. Opening pathways into "unusual" employment for persons with disabilities

  10. A youth employment project in Bangladesh wins ILO good practice contest

    A Bangladeshi youth employment project “From Margin to Mainstream” won one of the first prizes in a good practice contest organized by the ILO and featured on MTV. The project helps young people with disabilities step into the labour market and become agents of change.
