Training of the ILO and the Ministry of Manpower has included public speaking as part of the training on content creation and delivery of online training for the instructors of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centers.

    The Government of Japan partners with the ILO to support disaster resilience through waterworks restoration in Ethiopia

    The Government of Japan has contributed US$ 1.1 million to the ILO’s response to enhance disaster resilience through the employment-intensive restoration of waterworks in the city of Jijiga and among refugee-hosting communities of Kebribeyah in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia.

    Teleworking in Montenegro: ILO offers guidelines on effective working arrangements from home

    Montenegro has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and had to go for lockdowns and stay-at-home measures for the workforce wherever possible. The ILO has been requested by the government to provide legal advisory on updated teleworking policies. The ILO guidelines were recently endorsed by the Social Council of Montenegro as a platform for further discussion.

    Joint ILO - UNDP Action Supports Local Crafts and Small Artisans in Turkey’s Gaziantep for Face Mask Production against the Coronavirus Pandemic

    25 February 2021

    UNDP and ILO joint action with EU-KfW funding will support Gaziantep Union of Chambers of Artisans and Craftsmen (GESOB) with production and delivery of 25,000 face masks daily. The masks will meet the needs of thousands of workers in the city’s industrial zone where some 4,500 SMEs and 40,000 employees are currently operating. Apart from enabling accessibility to life-saving personal protective equipment to thousands, the action where both UN agencies cooperate also supports local socio-economic empowerment through skills development and vocational training of Syrian refugees in Gaziantep province, with refugee women and men employed in the production line at GESOB Vocational Training Center. The joint-action is being implemented as part of ILO’s and UNDP’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey.
