COPAC held its 78th Annual Board Meeting in Geneva
The Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) held its 78th Annual Board Meeting in Geneva on June 27, 2019.
Currently led by the ILO, the Committee reviewed the progress of its work in the last year. The highlight was the adoption of the Guidelines concerning the statistics on cooperatives during the 20th ICLS with the support of the COPAC Technical Working Group on Statistics of Cooperatives. The committee members thanked the ILO in taking the lead in moving this initiative forward.
They further discussed the 2019 - 2020 workplan including the activities around the International Day of Cooperatives for 2019 which will focus on decent work and SDG8. It was agreed that the COPAC brief series on Cooperatives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be completed in 2019 with the issuance of briefs on SDGs 9, 13, 14, and 17. The chair also informed the members of a number of new ILO-COPAC country briefs from the series on statistics of cooperatives scheduled for 2019 including in Ireland and Nepal.
